Research reveals russia eases mortgage terms for security forces in occupied Ukrainian cities

The Media Center Ukraine recently hosted the unveiling of a study titled “Key Narratives of russian Propaganda in the Occupied Ukrainian Territories, Summer 2025,” conducted by journalists from the Realna Gazeta.

The research categorizes russian propaganda in the occupied regions of Ukraine into three main themes: ideological messaging, socio-economic integration, and colonial control. The overarching aim, according to the study, is to convince residents of these territories that they are now part of russia.

“russia disseminates its propaganda primarily through the education system, systematically erasing the Ukrainian language from schools,” explained Olena Fetisova, web editor of the Realna Gazeta. “All exhibitions and cultural initiatives are organized under the auspices of the russian Cultural Foundation.”

The journalists further highlight that russia promotes the narrative that it is bringing ‘civilization’ to the occupied territories. The invader seeks to project an image of effective governance by claiming it will address all local issues. Meanwhile, it enforces harsh reprisals against alleged “spies” and “traitors,” and is introducing favorable mortgage terms specifically for russian security personnel, a tactic aimed at resettling these territories with its own population.
