Research: 80% of discourse on Ukraine’s recovery focused on Telegram, with hostile narratives predominating
A recent analysis reveals that Telegram messenger was the dominant platform for discussion on Ukraine’s rebuilding efforts, with the majority of hostile messages and pro-russian narratives centered there.
Iryna Riaboshtan, lead analyst at LetsData, shared these findings during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine, which examined the information landscape and public sentiment surrounding Ukraine’s restoration amid the ongoing war.
“Nearly all of the russian narratives we identified in the first half of this year were concentrated on Telegram. The platform accounted for 80% of the discourse on the country’s recovery, and almost all of the hostile messages came from there,” Riaboshtan explained.
The study highlighted three primary themes promoted by pro-russian entities: the economic crisis and corruption, alleged political pressure from international partners, and efforts to sow division within Ukrainian society.
