Punishment for 13 russian criminals for murders and executions: the “Tribunal for putin” initiative prepares complaint to ICC

The “Tribunal for putin” initiative has prepared a complaint to the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to bring to justice russian criminals who killed and tortured the Ukrainian civilians during the occupation. In particular, the complaints contain information about 13 alleged executors of criminal orders.

The complaints were presented at the event in the country’s main discussion platform BrainHub at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.

“We have prepared and processed information on 13 alleged perpetrators of these crimes. This information is collected from various sources, but the direct source is the testimony of those people who were tortured, and they heard the call signs, they saw these people, they recognized many of these people in photos. This information was, if possible, (confirmed – Ed.) in other sources, information from open sources was also found. And all this is being submitted to the International Criminal Court so that, hopefully, these people will be brought to justice,” Vladyslav Dolzhko, lawyer at the Kharkiv Human Rights Protection Group, co-author of the complaint said during the discussion.

In addition, Maksym Reviakin, expert from the Kharkiv Human Rights Protection Group, co-author of the complaint, noted that the complaint covered 52 incidents. Of them, 45 incidents took place in Kyiv region, four in Kharkiv region, two in Sumy region and one in Chernihiv region. The incidents, according to the expert, involved shootings using small arms or large-caliber weapons, military equipment.

“As a rule, they do not have a clear goal that can be understood. However, there is a certain differentiation – these shootings can be differentiated into those that were carried out as extrajudicial executions, that is, with the prior kidnapping of a person or several persons, with the executions carried out subsequently in certain places of detention. And the shootings that were directly carried out on the streets of cities, when individuals went out on their business, to find food, basic necessities, medicine, while riding bicycles, mass shootings of civilian cars marked with white armbands saying “kids” on them, with white armbands that the occupying authorities themselves demanded. That is, they behaved chaotically and, most likely, they had an order to shoot,” Maksym Reviakin added.

BrainHub hosts intellectual discussions around the issues of the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.
