Prospects for restoring electricity generation in Kyiv and Kharkiv are very low, says Oleksandr Kharchenko

The situation with Ukrainian electricity generation is very complicated, and there is currently no prospect of restoration in Kyiv and Kharkiv. This was stated by Oleksandr Kharchenko, director of the Center for Energy Research, during a briefing at the Ukraine Media Center.

“There is a prospect of building cogeneration facilities on a fairly large scale, but even so, these are not the volumes that would allow us to replace 20-25% of what has been lost, but that is the maximum. Perhaps 25-30% can be restored, but it is too early to say,” he said.

The expert added that the situation should improve in the spring when solar power generation comes online.
