Procurement oversight shields UAH 2 billion in state funds in 2024, Transparency International Ukraine reports
In 2024, Transparency International Ukraine successfully saved nearly two billion hryvnias for the state budget through its rigorous monitoring of public procurement processes.
Andrii Borovyk, Executive Director at Transparency International Ukraine, shared this achievement during a press conference at the Media Center Ukraine.
“Public procurement is one of our flagship areas. We strive to cooperate with the government, and while we occasionally find ourselves at odds, we maintain open communication,” Borovyk stated.
He emphasized that one of the team’s core objectives was to maximize the efficiency of their monitoring tools to secure budgetary savings.
“Our primary goal was to save as much money as possible through our monitoring efforts. Last year, we successfully managed to save the state budget approximately two billion hryvnias,” Borovyk noted.
The monitoring efforts involved direct appeals to procuring entities or, in cases of non-response, public notifications.
“Thanks to our monitoring, we often contacted the customer directly. When there was no response, we resorted to making public appeals,” Borovyk explained.
Furthermore, in 2024, approximately 40 criminal investigations were initiated based on the organization’s reports regarding the public procurement.
