Post-elections European Parliament majority continues support for Ukraine, says Maria Mezentseva
The preliminary outcomes of the European Parliament elections on June 9 suggest a favorable stance for Ukraine, as the majority backing the country remains intact.
This assessment comes from Maria Mezentseva, Deputy Head of the Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the EU and Head of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.
“I don’t see these elections as negative for Ukraine, or as something to be upset about or to be wary of,” Mezentseva stated. “Analytical and mathematical perspectives show that the far left, far right, or newly emerged political forces from these extremes did not secure significant results, not even nearing a hundred seats out of 720. Thus, the majority that directly supports Ukraine and has endorsed resolutions in our favor is still intact,” she explained.
