PACE to draft resolution for release of Ukrainian journalists unlawfully detained by russia – Yevheniia Kravchuk
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has endorsed a proposal to expedite a resolution aimed at securing the release of Ukrainian journalists detained by Russia.
This announcement was made by Yevheniia Kravchuk, a member of the Ukrainian delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada’s Humanitarian and Information Policy Committee, during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.
“Today, I participated in a Bureau meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. Under an accelerated procedure, they decided to support the resolution proposal submitted by my colleagues from the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) and me. The resolution will address the detention of Ukrainian journalists and seek legal mechanisms for their release. The PACE Committee on Culture, Science and Media will now prepare this resolution,” Kravchuk stated.
It is worth noting that on June 26, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe adopted three resolutions related to Ukraine. These resolutions covered the legal aspects of russian aggression, the role of sanctions, and efforts to counter the eradication of cultural identity.
