Evacuation has already begun in the following settlements of Kherson region: villages Mykolaivka, Olhivka, Lvove, Tyahynka, Ponyativka, Ivanivka, Tokarivka, Prydniprovske, Sadove, and partially Kherson city – Korabel Island.
According to experts, the water will reach a critical level 5 hours after the explosion of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant.
The explosion of the Kakhovka HPP dam poses a threat to the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant, as the water level in the Kakhovka Reservoir is rapidly decreasing, and water from this reservoir is needed for the plant to receive power for the turbine condensers and safety systems at the ZNPP.
President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy called an emergency meeting of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine due to the explosion of the dam of the Kakhovka Reservoir.
