Olha Skrypnyk: russia holding at least 86 civilians abducted from Kherson and Zaporizhia in detention centers in occupied Crimea
Human rights activists have identified at least 86 civilians taken by russia from the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions and detained in pre-trial facilities in russian-occupied Crimea.
Olha Skrypnyk, chairperson of the Crimean Human Rights Group Board, disclosed this information during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.
“As of today, we have been able to clearly verify 86 civilians who were transferred to Crimea from the Kherson or Zaporizhia Oblasts at different times. Most of them were held in Pre-Trial Detention Center No. 2, while some were placed in Centers No. 1 and No. 8,” Skrypnyk said.
She noted that at least 24 individuals taken from southern Ukraine to Crimea remain incommunicado—they have no contact with their families and cannot disclose their whereabouts. As a result, they lack any legal protection, including access to a lawyer.
“russia has yet to officially acknowledge their detention. Relatives have been filing inquiries with russian authorities and the federal Security Service (FSB) for years—some of these individuals have been imprisoned for more than two years—but moscow refuses to confirm their whereabouts. However, according to our sources, at least 24 people remain unaccounted for by russia,” Skrypnyk stated.
