Oleksandra Vasylenko: Blowing up of Kakhovka HPP threatens safety of one of Ukraine’s largest nuclear facilities

Ukraine continues the dialogue with the EU countries regarding the introduction of sanctions against the russian nuclear industry, since the issue of nuclear technologies is extremely important today.

Oleksandra Vasylenko, Director General for Economic Diplomacy and Sanctions Policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Special Commissioner for Humanitarian and Sanctions Policy, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.

“Blowing up of the Kakhovka HPP means that the safety system of one of the largest Ukrainian nuclear facilities – the Zaporizhia NPP – has been threatened. In every dialogue with our partners at both bilateral and multilateral levels, we constantly highlight the need to monitor the implementation of security measures at nuclear facilities. Therefore, yes, this dialogue is underway.”
