Okhmatdyt children’s hospital secures repairs, reopens wards damaged in missile strike

Emergency repairs on Okhmatdyt hospital’s new medical and diagnostic building, damaged in a missile attack on July 8, were completed about a month ago, securing the structure against winter conditions. The repairs have allowed previously unusable wards and rooms to reopen, restoring essential medical services.

Inna Ivanenko, the CF “Patients of Ukraine” CEO and the chair of the council overseeing Okhmatdyt’s restoration, shared the update during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.

“Progress has been excellent, and everything remains under control. The emergency works on this modern facility were completed a month ago, ensuring the building is fully protected against winter’s cold and snow. It’s now fully operational, and the wards and rooms previously out of service following the missile strike are back in use. The building is functioning normally,” Ivanenko said.

She emphasized the critical importance of completing protective measures before the onset of colder weather.

Ivanenko also announced the launch of two new tenders: one for producing design and estimate documentation for major repairs to the medical and diagnostic building and another for a transformer substation that was entirely destroyed in the attack.

“We are currently selecting a contractor to develop the design and estimate documentation required for the overhaul. This step is indispensable, as major repairs cannot proceed without it. Once the documentation is ready, we will move forward with comprehensive repairs,” she explained.
