Occupation authorities allocated 240 million rubles for the purchase of weapons for schoolchildren – NGO “Eastern Human Rights Group”
This is eight times more than the amount spent on computers and other equipment for computer science classrooms over the same period. This was stated by Vira Yastrebova, attorney, director of the NGO “Shidna Pravosazahisna Grupa” (Eastern Human Rights Group), at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Odesa.
“Russia is actively militarizing schoolchildren. This is evidenced by the figures of spending on weapons. Since the beginning of the year, the russian authorities have spent more than 240 million rubles on weapons for schoolchildren, which is, for example, eight times more than on computers and other equipment for computer science classrooms during the same period,” – the human rights activist said.
She noted that Kalashnikov rifles, Makarov pistols, ammunition, bulletproof vests and other equipment for basic military training rooms were purchased.
The human rights activist added that one of the main problems in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine is the lack of medical and educational workers.
“This is primarily due to the fact that most of the specialists, citizens of Ukraine, left for the government-controlled territory of Ukraine or abroad after the Russian Federation seized the territories. Russian citizens who work in the field of medicine and education refuse to go to work in the occupied territories,” – Vira Yastrebova noted.
