No severe restrictions expected: Expert explains under what weather conditions power outages may occur in Ukraine
If the average daily temperature drops to -7 to -9°C, Ukraine may implement minimal power outages for residential consumers.
This was stated by Oleksandr Kharchenko, director of the Energy Industry Research Center, during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.
“If temperatures drop to an average of -7 to -9°C (one of the possible scenarios, though not guaranteed, as we have various weather forecasts), then minimal restrictions, including for residential areas, may be necessary. But I think they will be limited to half a group, or one group at most. So, I don’t expect catastrophic or severe restrictions – that’s not going to happen. Provided, of course, that there are no new large-scale attacks, and that there are no reduction in generating capacity as a result of such attacks,” Kharchenko said.
