New defense enterprises established: decisions for domestic defense industry unveiled at URC2024

At the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC2024) in Berlin, among crucial topics addressed for the nation, the focus was directed toward the defense industry. Notably, the conference revealed plans for the establishment of new defense enterprises.

Yulia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economy, made this announcement during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.

“Throughout the conference, the establishment of new defense enterprises and military risk insurance was highlighted. For instance, a significant development in the defense sector was the inauguration of the first joint venture between the Ukrainian Defense Industry (Ukroboronprom) and German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall for armored vehicle repair and production, just prior to URC. The logical progression includes the repair of Leopard tanks in Ukraine and the localization of Lynx infantry fighting vehicle production. We anticipate the assembly of at least one such vehicle by year’s end,” stated Yulia Svyrydenko.
