NACP: New income tax autofill tool to better detect corruption risks
A new autofill feature for public officials’ financial disclosures is set to help the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) allocate resources more efficiently by focusing on reports that present a higher risk of corruption.
Yulia Kulikova, head of the NACP’s Department for Full Scrutiny, highlighted this advancement during a recent presentation at Media Center Ukraine.
“By minimizing errors in declarations, we can zero in on those that truly pose a risk,” said Kulikova. “We’ve previously discussed our shift towards a risk-based approach in selecting declarations for review, but errors in the data can distort the perceived level of risk. With fewer mistakes, we expect a much cleaner selection process, which should significantly enhance the effectiveness of our audits and other financial control measures.”
Kulikova noted that more accurate and reliable data in financial filings will enable the public, authorized personnel, and law enforcement to better assess potential risk areas using publicly available information.
She also pointed out that error-free income tax filings would reduce the number of inquiries directed to the NACP’s contact center, lessening the workload for staff during peak periods.
