NABU and SAPO target Kyiv land corruption: Key suspect still in Ukraine, search is ongoing to prevent his escape
Ukrainian authorities are working intensely to locate the leader of an organized crime group recently exposed by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) in Operation “Clean City.” Efforts are underway to track him down and prevent his departure from the country.
Semen Kryvonos, Director of NABU, confirmed this during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.
“Regarding individuals evading investigation—everyone is aware of our latest operation, codenamed ‘Clean City,’ which uncovered a criminal organization that had been seizing land plots in Kyiv worth millions. We are currently working to locate the organization’s leader. According to our information, he is actively seeking a way to leave Ukraine,” Kryvonos stated.
He reiterated that NABU’s intelligence indicates the suspect remains in Ukraine but is making efforts to flee.
“Yes, based on our information, he is still here and is actively looking for ways to leave the territory [of Ukraine]. Of course, this data is subject to verification,” he added.
Kryvonos stressed that a large-scale search is being carried out, involving significant forces from NABU, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the National Police, and the Border Guard Service.
“I sincerely hope that the entire law enforcement system will work together to ensure this individual cannot escape Ukraine and will ultimately stand trial,” Kryvonos said.
