More than 200 doctors in Odesa region have been trained in “barrier-free access” in six months

The training was supported by the United Nations Population Fund, the Women’s Health and Family Planning Fund and the Ukrainian Women’s Fund. Lyudmyla Akimova, senior coordinator of the UNFPA Cities Project, told this at a briefing at the Media Center. Ukraine – Odesa

“Over the past six months, we have trained more than 200 doctors in Odesa region. And at the end of June, we will have two more five-day trainings, with a special focus on psychological support for war victims and victims of female violence. We will additionally train 60 more medical workers during these trainings,” – Amimova noted.

Amimova also urged victims of sexual violence during the war to call the national hotline for domestic violence, human trafficking and gender discrimination at 116 123 or 0 800 500 335, the government hotline 1547, the women’s health hotline 3033 and the center for survivors at 067 131 39 38.

“War-related sexual violence is not only rape. It also includes threats and attempts of rape, genital mutilation, sexual torture, coercion to observe sexual violence against other people, and forced nudity. When the enemy examines a woman at a checkpoint, it is a sign of sexual violence…. That is why it is very important that our compatriots do not remain silent and come forward,” – Akimova said.
