Ministry of Youth and Sports Plans to Designate Sports Clubs as Public Organizations
The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine is working on a bill that would allow sports clubs to be designated as public organizations. Serhiy Tymofeyev, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, announced this during a briefing at the Ukraine Media Center.
“They will differ from municipal institutions in that, in a municipal institution, the head is appointed by local government bodies. A public organization will allow athletes to choose the coaches they want. Also, people of all age groups will be able to train in such public organizations,” said the deputy minister.
Serhiy Tymofeyev added that the Ministry has initiated the creation of a working group involving other government agencies to develop a roadmap for preventing violence in children’s and youth sports.
“Our goal is to develop mechanisms for responding to cases of violence, algorithms for where to seek help, and to teach children how to respond to instances of violence against them,” he added.
