Military exercises announced by belarus do not pose a threat to Ukraine – Andrii Demchenko

The military exercises that belarus plans to conduct until the end of January do not pose a threat to Ukraine.

This was emphasized by Andrii Demchenko, spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“These announced exercises, which will last until the end of January, do not threaten us. belarus frequently conducts various exercises on its territory, as we’ve seen in previous years, including those involving russian army units. At present, there is no significant presence of russian troops or strike groups on the territory of belarus, because the terrorist state has gradually withdrawn its forces and has not rotated in new units. Therefore, belarus is now the one escalating the situation, playing along with russia,” Demchenko explained.

According to him, there is no evidence of the presence of russian troops during the military exercises in belarus, nor are the exercises being conducted in close proximity to the Ukrainian border.

“We do not observe the presence of russian troops there, and these exercises involve territorial defense units and reservists. But they are not carried out near our border. I am not even sure if any equipment is being used in these exercises. This is belarus demonstrating that they are strengthening their defense capabilities, claiming that the threat comes from Ukraine. They are likely to continue this rhetoric,” Demchenko added.
