Kyiv power outages affect some 470,000 amid harsh weather, but most expected to regain service by the end of day

Roughly 470,000 Kyiv households are currently without power, though most should have electricity restored by the end of the day, according to energy expert Oleksandr Kharchenko.

Despite difficult weather conditions slowing repair work, the director of the Energy Industry Research Center told the Media Center Ukraine that service is expected to return to the majority of affected homes before nightfall.

“There are currently about 470,000 customers left without electricity in Kyiv. I think that by the end of the day, most consumers will get power restored. Judging by the assessment, there is no critical damage that could pose a catastrophic threat. Restoration efforts are already underway. But in weather like this, the process moves slowly,” Kharchenko said.
