Khmelnytskyi NPP has been short of 400 MW capacity for almost two years – Oleksandr Kharchenko
For almost two years, the issue of restoring the 400 MW of the Khmelnytskyi NPP’s capacity has remained unresolved.
Oleksandr Kharchenko, Director at the Energy Industry Research Center, made this statement during a discussion at Media Center Ukraine.
“As for the Energoatom and nuclear generation. The problem with Khmelnytskyi (NPP – Ed.) has not been resolved, 400 MW of capacity has not been physically generated there for almost two years. For two years, Ukraine has not had 400 MW in the system, which would make life much easier for us, right now it would be very appropriate. MPs are already working on this, and they are making a fuss about it, but the issue hasn’t moved forward. Unfortunately, there has been no news about the restoration of this capacity. Although many experts believe that Turboatom would have coped with this task if it had received it on time,” he noted.
