Key players in supplying fuel to Ukraine: Expert identifies top countries
Ukraine currently receives fuel from an average of 15 countries, according to fuel market expert, Serhii Kuiun.
Speaking at a briefing hosted by Media Center Ukraine, Kuiun highlighted the major contributors.
“On average, about 15 countries supply fuel to Ukraine. Among the largest suppliers are Poland, Romania, Greece, and the United States,” Kuiun explained.
He also noted a new development in 2024, with Germany joining the ranks of Ukraine’s fuel suppliers.
“It’s significant that in 2024, Germany emerged as a key supplier. We’re now seeing substantial volumes of motor gasoline coming from there. This shift stems from declining gasoline consumption across Europe, while production levels remain high. Additionally, global exports are slowing due to the emergence of new production facilities worldwide, resulting in a surplus of supply,” Kuiun stated.
The expert emphasized that this surplus has intensified competition, driving gasoline prices down across Europe and opening up new trade opportunities. “This new supply route would have been hard to imagine not long ago,” he added.
