In Ukraine, three cases of AIDS-related deaths are recorded daily in 2024 – Olha Klymova

In 2024, 29 cases of HIV infection, 8 cases of AIDS and 3 cases of AIDS-related deaths were registered daily in Ukraine.

This was reported by Olha Klymova, a specialist of the Department of HIV Control and Prevention at the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, during a press conference at the Media Center Ukraine.

“Every day this year, 29 cases of HIV infection, 8 cases of AIDS and 3 AIDS-related deaths are registered in Ukraine,” she said.

According to her, the main mode of HIV transmission remains the same as last year: sexual intercourse, which accounts for 80% of all new HIV diagnoses. The second most common mode of transmission occurs through parenteral administration of narcotic substances.

It is worth noting that December 1 is World AIDS Day – a date established as a reminder of the disease that has claimed some 40.4 million lives worldwide.
