In July and August, border crossings to Ukraine outnumbered exits – State Border Guard Service

Lines at the Ukrainian border appear on certain routes and at specific times when passenger traffic increases, but they are not round-the-clock.

Andrii Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, shared this information during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“We’ve observed high passenger traffic throughout the summer months. Since June 1, it has been steadily increasing. However, while June was characterized by citizens leaving the country, July saw a slight predominance of entries into Ukraine. Nearly 4.2 million citizens crossed the border in both directions in July. August also shows a trend favoring entry,” Demchenko said.

He added that a large number of Ukrainian citizens are expected to return before September 1, as mothers with children – the primary category of border crossers – will be coming back to ensure they don’t miss the start of the new school year.

Demchenko also noted that the most common violations at the border include illegal attempts to leave the country, the use of forged documents, and falsification of exit conditions.
