In first quarter of 2024, rabies-infected animals discovered in 369 settlements of Ukraine

As of the first quarter of the current year, animals infected with rabies have been discovered in 369 settlements across the country. By comparison, during the same period in 2023, this figure stood at 190 settlements.

Serhii Tkachuk, Head of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.

“As of the first quarter, we have identified 369 settlements where animals were confirmed to have rabies. Comparatively, in the first quarter of 2023 there were 190 such settlements, and throughout the whole year there was a total over 1,000 such settlements, where contact with a rabies-infected animal was confirmed,” said Serhii Tkachuk.
