Human rights activists identify russian units and weapons behind Chernihiv shelling in March 2022
Human rights investigators have identified the russian military units and weapons responsible for the largest cluster munition attack on Chernihiv in March 2022.
The assault was carried out by the russian Federation’s 400th Separate Artillery Brigade, 232nd Rocket Artillery Brigade, and 120th Artillery Brigade.
Viktoriia Hlamazda, a war crimes documenter with the Educational Human Rights House in Chernihiv, detailed the attack during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.
“One of the bloodiest days in Chernihiv, March 17, 2022, saw the city struck with cluster munitions. russian forces shelled multiple areas simultaneously for approximately 15 minutes. Twenty-two people were killed and 32 others were injured, including three children,” Hlamazda said.
She added that the russian artillery deployed Uragan multiple-launch rocket systems carrying cluster munitions filled with two-gram fragments.
