High trust in government linked to lower absorption of hostile disinformation, says Pavlo Buldovych
During a discussion at the Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform, Pavlo Buldovych, Head of the Department for Coordination of State Information Policy on Corruption Prevention at the NACP, highlighted that countering disinformation hinges not only on enhancing media literacy but also on bolstering public trust in the government and state.
“Combatting misinformation is achievable not just by promoting media literacy. Disinformation falls flat when the public lacks trust in these narratives, relying instead on faith in authorities and the government,” he asserted. According to Pavlo Buldovych, when trust in institutions is high, susceptibility to false narratives decreases.
Thus, he stressed, it’s crucial to continually boost trust in the government, its initiatives, and institutions.
