Heating system overhaul in Kyiv: 55 kilometers of pipes replaced in 2023
Kyiv has replaced roughly 55 kilometers of heating pipelines this year as part of its ongoing effort to modernize the city’s heat supply system.
Petro Panteleiev, deputy head of Kyiv City State Administration, shared the update during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“We’ve encountered no technical issues; all necessary tests have been conducted, and the most critical sections of the heating network have been upgraded,” Panteleiev said. “Although 55 kilometers isn’t as much as we replaced before the war, it’s still significant progress. Despite the financial shortfall, modernizing the heating system remains a top priority.”
Since the city took over management of its heating infrastructure, about 460 kilometers of pipelines have been replaced, focusing on outdated sections that regularly failed during the winter, according to Petro Panteleiev.
