Government takes action to support consumer energy independence programs – Yurii Boiko, Advisor to Ukraine’s PM, Member of Ukrenergo Supervisory Board
Ukrainians have endured more than a month without electricity. Many consumers have begun to rely on alternative or additional energy sources and are also utilizing the government’s consumer energy independence programs. During a briefing at Media Center Ukraine, the Adviser to the Prime Minister of Ukraine, a Member of Ukrenergo Supervisory Board, stated that the Government has already taken a number of steps to accommodate business and consumers.
“The success of these programs depends on how actively people engage in efforts to protect themselves for the upcoming winter—and likely beyond—by taking preventive steps to enhance their energy security and independence,” Yurii Boiko, Advisor to Ukraine’s PM, Member of Ukrenergo Supervisory Board, said during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.
Referring to programs that assist with installing home insulation, solar panels, and batteries, Yurii Boiko highlighted that these are just a few examples of energy independence initiatives for Ukrainians. The programs also aim to simplify access to equipment purchased abroad by reducing costs through the cancellation of VAT and customs fees for such items.
