Global support felt strong at Paralympics, says Ukrainian medalist

The international community has rallied behind Ukraine, a sentiment strongly felt among athletes at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. Danylo Chufarov, two-time silver medalist and bronze medalist in para swimming, 2024 Paralympic Games, highlighted this during a press conference at Media Center Ukraine.

“When we arrived at this prestigious global event, our competitors were concerned about us as Ukrainian athletes. The first question they asked me was, ‘Is your family safe? Are your loved ones okay?’ Their immediate concern was about the well-being of our people and the survival of our country,” Chufarov shared.

He added that the world’s solidarity with Ukraine was overwhelming. “Everyone we spoke to offered words of support. They told us that while they could only express it now, they would return home and tell the world to step up and help Ukraine. They believe the entire world must act to stop the war,” Chufarov said.
