Fuel prices in Ukraine: What to expect in 2025
Fuel prices in Ukraine may rise, but despite the increase in excise tax rates and the significant rise in world market prices, there is no reason for a dramatic increase of 7-10 UAH per liter.
This was emphasized by Serhii Kuiun, a fuel market expert, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“We started the year with oil at 74 dollars per barrel, and yesterday it was 82 dollars. Oil prices have increased by 10%. As a result, operators have been unable to maintain stable prices at the pump. Last week we saw the first price increase of 1-1.5 UAH, and today some networks have also adjusted their prices. Prices are likely to rise further due to the significant growth of the global market,” Kuiun explained.
According to him, fluctuations in the range of 1-1.5 UAH are common, which reflects the market’s dependence on global oil prices.
At the same time, the expert does not see any basis for a price increase of 7-10 UAH per liter of gasoline.
“There is absolutely no reason for the price to increase by 7 or 10 UAH per liter – that is by 15-20%,” he stressed.
During the discussion, Kuiun also reviewed how fuel prices in Ukraine changed over the course of 2024. Over the year, gasoline A-95 increased by 4.7 UAH per liter (9.5%), diesel fuel rose by 2.4 UAH per liter (4.7%), liquefied gas saw an increase of 3.1 UAH per liter (12%).
