Fuel benefits for farmers: expert highlights threats and pitfalls requiring additional work
The mechanism granting fuel benefits for farmers must guarantee its targeted use.
Serhii Kuiun, fuel market expert made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.
“It is essential to refine the mechanism granting this benefit to ensure that it guarantees the targeted use of fuel for farmers at a reduced tax rate. This will help prevent the possibility of subsidized fuel being resold at gas stations,” he said.
In particular, the expert noted that Ukraine should look at the European experience in providing benefits to agricultural enterprises.
“It is necessary to study the European experience. As far as I know, farmers use this fuel first and then receive tax compensation from the state by submitting documentation on acreage, fuel use, and other relevant details, following the established procedures. And having talked with Polish and Lithuanian traders many times, I don’t know of any such cases (of misuse – Ed.). This is an unfathomable topic, no one can even think of selling agricultural fuel at gas stations,” Serhii Kuiun added.
