Flexibility, speed, honesty: Croatian expert emphasizes important aspects in countering russian disinformation
Countering russian disinformation should be flexible, fast, and very honest.
This was emphasized by Professor Gordan Akrap, Vice-Rector of Croatia’s Defense and Security University and a veteran of the Croatian War of Independence, during a discussion of Croatia’s experience in countering Serbian and russian disinformation and propaganda at the Media Center Ukraine.
“There is no simple and unified way of disinformation activities. Therefore, the answer cannot be unified and the same in every case. We are different people, and there are different activities, modi operandi. Disinformation activities, especially now, are part of hybrid threats that are shaping and changing the way of their appearance, and therefore the system that is fighting against them has to be very flexible, very fast, and very honest, equipped with skillful and knowledgeable people who can react first, fast, and honestly with the support of intelligence. Because intelligence is upgraded knowledge, and that’s what you need in fighting disinformation,” he emphasized.
