Fires spread across 20,000 square meters: SESU aviation helps extinguish flames in several Kyiv districts

The enemy attack on the night of June 16-17 caused large-scale fires in the capital. In addition to firefighters, helicopters of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU) were deployed to combat the flames.

This was announced by the SESU spokesperson Oleksandr Khorunzhyi during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

According to Khorunzhyi, two SESU helicopters made 50 water drops, releasing a total of 100 tons of water.

“Aviation was deployed because massive fires broke out in several districts due to strikes. The affected area reached 20,000 square meters. In addition to firefighters battling the flames, our aviation was also engaged, using specialized equipment to drop water, which proved highly effective. All fires have been extinguished, with the last one being fully contained this morning,” he stated.

Khorunzhyi noted that the largest fires in Kyiv were recorded in the Darnytskyi and Solomianskyi districts.

“Specifically, one fire site in the Darnytskyi district covered approximately 10,000 square meters. There were also fires in the Solomianskyi district,” he added.
