Fires claim four lives daily in Ukraine – State Emergency Service

Ukraine experiences over 240 fires each day, resulting in an average of four fatalities and five injuries, according to Roman Tsyren, Head of the Emergency Prevention Department at the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

Speaking at a briefing at Media Center Ukraine, Tsyren underscored the deadly toll of fires in the country.

“In addition to the war, fires take the lives of four of our citizens every day,” he said. “On average, about four people die and five others are injured in fires each day. There are more than 240 fire incidents daily.”

Tsyren noted that the annual figures present a deeply troubling picture. “On average, two thousand people die from fires alone every year, and five thousand may be injured,” he stated.

He further pointed out the broader impact of emergencies, highlighting the scale of human loss when road accidents are taken into account.

“If we also consider road accidents, which claim the lives of six thousand of our citizens annually, the overall loss is enormous,” he concluded.
