Expert predicts a rise in fuel prices before the end of January

In December, oil prices fell to $60 per barrel, the lowest price recorded all year. This lowered purchase prices, making the increase in excise taxes less noticeable. Serhii Kuiun, a fuel market expert, stated this at the Media Center Ukraine.

“However, since the start of the year, we have been observing an increase in the exchange rate and a rise in global oil prices. We are seeing price increases in wholesale purchasing. The market is holding steady for now, but a price increase is still expected in January. This is being influenced by the strengthening of the exchange rate and the global oil price, which has already reached $65 per barrel,” he noted.

According to Kuiun, prices for Arctic-grade fuel are rising. Meanwhile, consumption of “generator” fuel has increased by about 10%, reaching 70,000 to 80,000 tons per month. However, this has not affected the price.
