Exhibitions, discussions, excursions and a scientific forum: Events planned to honor anniversaries of Ukraine’s Orange Revolution and Revolution of Dignity
Throughout November and on November 21—the date marking the beginnings of Ukraine’s Orange Revolution in 2004 and the Revolution of Dignity in 2013—the National Museum of the Revolution of Dignity, along with its partners, will host a range of events to commemorate these pivotal moments in Ukraine’s history. The program includes photo exhibitions, discussions, and excursions.
During a recent press conference at Media Center Ukraine, museum officials outlined plans for this year’s celebrations under the theme, “WE CAN’T BE DEFEATED! 20 years of the Orange Revolution and 11 years of Euromaidan.” According to the Director General of the National Memorial to the Heavenly Hundred Heroes and Revolution of Dignity Museum, a number of special exhibitions and thematic activities are scheduled.
One featured exhibition, “Protest/Architecture: Barricades and Tents: The World and Ukraine,” highlights Ukraine’s distinctive protest culture. It examines how protest spaces and structures, influenced by over 60 global demonstrations from the past 200 years, have been integral to the Ukrainian people’s resilience and determination.
This exhibit will run until November 24 and will include discussion panels and educational sessions.
On November 18, a documentary photo exhibit dedicated to the Orange Revolution will open on Independence Square in Kyiv.
A scientific forum, titled “Revolution of Dignity: Towards History,” will take place from November 20-21 in a hybrid format, exploring themes of protest evolution in Ukraine. This year’s forum will focus on “The Evolution of Protest Movements in Modern Ukraine: Empires, Wars, Identity,” bringing together experts from Ukraine and universities worldwide to explore these themes in depth.
The traditional interfaith prayer service will be held on November 21 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ecumenical Church of the Archangel Michael on the Heavenly Hundred Heroes’ Alley.
Following this, on November 22-23, the Ukrainian House will display unique artifacts from the Orange Revolution and host discussions with key participants.
The Maidan Museum will also organize the “Evolution of Revolutions” discussion series and guided tours on Saturdays throughout November. Additionally, exhibitions and related events will extend beyond Kyiv, reaching regions across Ukraine.
The 11th anniversary of the Revolution of Dignity and the 20th anniversary of the Orange Revolution will also be marked by a social campaign. More details on the program can be found on the Maidan Museum’s official website: https://www.maidanmuseum.org/uk
