European Commission creates a flagship fund for Ukraine’s recovery

The fund will accumulate investments that will be channeled into energy infrastructure, transport networks, critical raw materials, and dual-use industries.

This was announced by Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, during the opening of the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome.

“I am particularly pleased to announce today the launch of the Ukraine Reconstruction and Renovation Fund. Together with the private sector, this will enable investment in energy, transport, critical raw materials, and dual-use industries,” said the President of the European Commission.

She added that the fund would combine public funds and private-sector investments.

Ursula von der Leyen emphasized that the European Commission plans to support Ukraine through 2028 within the current funding framework, and this support will continue after the new budget is adopted.
