Enemy adapts tactics to minimize naval losses, says Dmytro Pletenchuk
The adversary’s current maritime strategies aim to mitigate the risks of losing ship and boat assets.
That’s according to Dmytro Pletenchuk, Spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, speaking at a briefing held at the Media Center Ukraine.
“Their tactics are primarily geared towards minimizing the risk of ship and boat fleet destruction,” Pletenchuk explained.
He highlighted changes in tactics since the appointment of the new head of the russian Black Sea Fleet, suggesting that his predecessor, Sokolov, might have been replaced due to significant losses in ships and boats.
“They have employed several tactical shifts, substituting ships with aerial components. Patrol duties are largely performed by aircraft of various types, including helicopters and unmanned drones, as they maintain minimal surface presence in the Black Sea. Their occasional use of submarines, totaling four in the Black Sea—three of which are cruise missile carriers, with at least two regularly deployed—further underscores their strategic adjustments,” elaborated Pletenchuk.
Additionally, he noted efforts by the enemy to narrow the Kerch Strait to facilitate easier monitoring against potential incursions by maritime drones.
