Electricity restrictions to continue in Ukraine for at least two more years
Until the generation capacity is fully restored, Ukrainians need to be prepared for electricity restrictions.
Oleksandr Kharchenko, Director at the Energy Industry Research Center, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.
“Currently, the overall situation is described by a lack of generating capacity in the system. But, to be honest, all we can do is get used to the fact that this is the normal state of affairs. For the next two years at least. Overall, I believe that these are our horizons: we have to maximize our efforts over the next two years. Following this period, within the next two to five years, we should be able to restore sufficient generation capacities to eliminate all consumer restrictions, ensuring everything operates smoothly as it should. This is a rough forecast for the full restoration. Until then, (electricity – Ed.) restrictions lasting 4-6 hours per day are a normal situation throughout the country, and for Kyiv this period is 6-8 hours per day,” Oleksandr Kharchenko explained.
