During the “people with cardboard signs” protest, unknown young men attempted to stage a provocation with flares and flag burnings
Throughout the peaceful gatherings outside the Ivan Franko Theater, everything proceeded calmly, except for a few provocations. The first incident involved young men climbing onto the theater’s balcony, which is prohibited by law and does not align with the purpose of the action. The next day, a group of engaged individuals attempted to provoke further disturbances. However, all days of the peaceful rally passed without major incidents.
Sofiia Pivtorak, a coordinator of the peaceful rally, shared this information during the briefing “No batons, no violence: Lessons from the peaceful ‘people with cardboard signs’ protest” at the Media Center Ukraine.
“Unknown individuals burned flags using flares, but we immediately clarified that this had nothing to do with our action,” she emphasized.
At the same time, there were also positive moments during the peaceful rally. For instance, medics with combat experience joined the event, ready to provide assistance if someone needed help.
