Drought affects 70% of Ukraine’s farmland, Hydrometeorological Center reports
A severe dry spell has impacted a substantial portion of Ukraine’s agricultural land, covering about 70% of the sown areas, according to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.
Nataliia Ptukha, the Center’s spokesperson, shared this information during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“Our agrometeorologists report that approximately 70% of the sowing areas are currently affected by drought, with even the top meter of soil being completely dry. This is particularly true in southeastern Ukraine and is already slowing down the sowing season, which has just begun. However, we remain hopeful that the drought won’t significantly harm next year’s harvest,” Ptukha explained.
