Downing of two russian Il-22 and A-50 planes could delay future enemy missile strikes – Natalia Humeniuk
There were command posts on the enemy planes that the Ukrainian forces managed to shoot down.
Colonel Natalia Humeniuk, Head of the United Coordinating Press Center of Security and Defense Forces of the South of Ukraine, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.
“We record the downing of two aircraft. Moreover, not aircraft, but those containing the corresponding command posts. The A-50 in fact functioned as the “eyes” of the enemy, because with the help of this plane and the equipment enabling its activity, the enemy monitored our territory and carried out powerful missile strikes. And it is due to the A-50 that the situation with future targets has become rather uncertain. Therefore, we will count on the fact that such a hit will be quite sensitive and will at least delay future missile strikes,” Natalia Humeniuk explained.
As reported earlier, the Ukrainian military destroyed an enemy A-50 long-range radar detection aircraft and Il-22 command aircraft over the Sea of Azov.
