Do Not Expect Early Spring Yet: Frosts Will Return to Ukraine over the Weekend — Meteorologist at the Hydrometeorological Center
After abnormally warm January, the weather in Ukraine becomes wintrier again. Natalia Ptukha, meteorologist at Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, made this statement during the briefing in Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.
“As early as this week, light precipitation was observed from time to time on the territory of Ukraine, mainly in the form of mixed-phase weather elements. This was a mix of snow and rain. At night, we had stable sub-zero temperatures almost all over Ukraine, but in the daytime it was slightly above-zero in some places. Starting this weekend, the temperature throughout Ukraine will decrease and again acquire frosty values: freezing temperatures will be both at night and in the daytime. As early as February 5–6, the temperature will begin to drop: 5–10 degrees below zero at night and 0–6 degrees below zero during the day. Official forecasts [for spring] will appear in a week or two, but I can personally say that February will be quite intense, the temperature will decrease, frosts will return, so we should not expect early spring now,” Natalia Ptukha said.
