Diesel fuel imports increased, while liquefied gas imports decreased: Insights from 2024 data

Fuel import trends have shifted in 2024, with diesel fuel imports increasing and liquefied gas imports decreasing.

This was reported by fuel market expert Serhii Kuiun during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“In terms of import figures, gasoline imports decreased by 0.5% and remained essentially unchanged at 1.044 million tons. Diesel fuel imports increased by 7.5% and reached 6.6 million tons. On the other hand, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) imports fell by 7.2% to nearly 900,000 tons. This slight correlation shows a decline in the consumption of fuels such as gasoline and LPG, which are mainly used by individuals for passenger cars. This could reflect continued migration or the fact that many people have joined the military, especially active men, who are typically drivers,” Kuiun explained.

At the same time, Kuiun noted that the increase in diesel fuel imports could be linked to an increase in freight transport activity. Diesel fuel is mainly used in the commercial sector, especially in trucks, and to a lesser extent in private car
