Denys Marchuk highlights product categories expected to see 10-15% price increase this fall and winter
Consumers in Ukraine may face price hikes of 10-15% on key food items, including vegetables, dairy products, eggs, and chicken meat, as the fall and winter months set in. Denys Marchuk, Deputy Head of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council, shared these projections during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“First and foremost, the price hikes will affect vegetables, followed by dairy products,” Marchuk explained. “In the colder months, cows produce less milk, and coupled with reduced harvests, the cost of feed—particularly corn, which has already become more expensive—will rise. As a result, feeding livestock will become costlier, leading to higher market prices. We’ve already seen dairy prices increase by 5% in August and an additional 3-5% in September, and I expect this trend to persist, possibly through February.”
He added, “The same pattern is likely to affect eggs and chicken meat, with prices for these products also expected to grow by 10-15% throughout the fall and winter months.”
