Decrease in fuel consumption: Expert evaluates the state of the Ukrainian fuel market

Ukraine’s fuel market is currently facing significant challenges due to a combination of reduced consumption and ongoing military risks.

This assessment was provided by fuel market expert Serhii Kuiun during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“The market is not in a favorable state, as fuel consumption continues to decline. In the first four months of 2025, we have observed a decrease in both diesel and liquefied gas consumption compared to the same period last year. There has been a slight uptick in gasoline consumption, but overall, the market is still losing ground. On top of this, there are additional setbacks from military strikes, which further exacerbate the situation. This creates an extremely precarious environment for the market,” Kuiun explained.
