Death toll rises to 27 in June 17 russian missile strike, including 25 killed in Kyiv – Emergency Service
A large-scale russian missile attack struck five regions of Ukraine overnight on June 17, with the capital bearing the brunt of the assault.
Oleksandr Khorunzhyi, spokesperson for the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, announced the figures during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.
“This was an extremely powerful and massive russian attack. As a result of this strike, according to our data, 27 people were killed, 25 in Kyiv and two in Odesa,” he said.
Khorunzhyi added that at least 134 people were injured in Kyiv, with another 26 wounded in Odesa. He noted that the casualty figures remain preliminary.
“These numbers are not yet final,” he said, explaining that emergency crews are still working at a residential site in Kyiv’s Solomianskyi district. “We’re still operating at the scene of a nine-story apartment building where one of the entrances effectively came crashing down following the hit.”
