Corruption remains as critical as war and destruction – Transparency International Ukraine

The main challenges facing Ukrainians today remain russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, corruption, and infrastructure destruction.

Anastasiia Mazurok, Deputy Executive Director at Transparency International Ukraine, stated this during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“Compared to data from two years ago, corruption is now perceived as slightly less urgent — 81% today versus 88% in November 2023. Views on corruption trends are divided: 44% of respondents believe it has increased, 42% say it has remained unchanged, and only 7% are convinced that corruption has decreased compared to last year. Reports of rising corruption are most frequent among rural residents, while medium and large cities show a lower share of such responses,” she noted.

89% of those surveyed consider political corruption a serious problem, 81% view corruption in business as critical, and only 63% describe everyday corruption as a very or somewhat serious issue.
