Community Rescue Officer: State Emergency Service presents the initial results of the project
Launched just a few months ago by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU), the Community Rescue Officer project has already demonstrated its first successful results.
Viktor Vitovetskyi, director of the SESU’s Department for Organization of Civil Protection Measures, announced this during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“Our officers are on the front line of emergency response. Since the project began, they have participated in 209 emergency response efforts and responded to over 18,000 fires. It is important to emphasize that nearly 2,000 of these fires and 194 emergencies were direct consequences of hostilities,” he said.
Vitovetskyi stated that the project’s core objective is to have a rescue officer in every community. These officers will establish a resilient, effective, and modern civil protection system at the local level that can respond efficiently to a wide range of threats and protect the population and critical community infrastructure. Currently, the project involves 1,227 communities from 23 regions.
